Free and powerful animation tools – blender 3d
Not all 3D animation software is expensive. Blender 3D is a freeware animation tool that in the right hands, can bring in spectacular results. The program itself is a free download available at the Blender website. Blender 3D is quite an advanced tool and the casual user may find himself a little challenged to begin with. You’ll find that none of the buttons and controls are even visible on screen : most of them are activated by keyboard shortcuts. But Blender 3D comes with a clutch of free video tutorials that teach you in a friendly way how to get it at the controls and how to understand the whole subject of 3D animation. When you open the program for the first time, take a look around; the panel on the top is called the 3D Viewport. This panel is the place where all the 3D objects are created, manipulated and animated against a background. The function buttons are on the bottom and control all of the functions available in the 3D Viewport. The user preferences window is accessed by resizing the strip at the top of the screen. The preferences window offers a number of possible customization options like Autosave. This function can often be a lifesaver Bs blender 3D is known to crash from time to time. You do not need to save your changes, as they are automatically accepted. You can start your experience with Blender 3D by trying your hand at a few basic three-dimensional shapes: regular polygons, pyramids or spheres. Spheres especially, are formed using the Subdivision Surfaces function. Surprisingly enough, Blender 3D offers advanced scene lighting options. Space | Add | Lamp is the method used to activate the lighting option. It is fun to play around with the different options provided. Functions like NURBS allow you to create 3D objects from basic models. Two noteworthy features in this program are Extrude and Knife Cut. You can build 3D objects with basic components like curves, vertices and lines. Ready-made functions allow you to create faces, activated by the F key on the keyboard. The video tutorials are the best way to go though. These are created by fellow Blender 3D fans and tend to address the kind of problems that learners come by.
